Double Chin Treatment In Las Vegas

Kybella Fat Injections for Double Chin / Neck Fat

Kybella double chin / neck fat treatments are now available in Las Vegas at our practice.  This expands our cosmetic Botox (R) offering and is another product brought to the aesthetic market by Allergan.   Treatments will be done by a trained MD with knowledge of facial anatomy.

Kybella (deoxycholic acid) is an FDA approved non-surgical injectable treatment solution for reducing moderate to severe upper neck / under chin (submental) fat, otherwise know as a “dobule chin”.

(Kybella submental fat injections were FDA approved in April, 2015.)

Submental fullness (i.e. “double chin”) is a common yet undertreated
aesthetic facial condition that can impact a broad range of adults,
including both women and men.
Causes include aging, genetics and weight gain.
Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the condition may not
go away, and can make you look older and heavier than you are.
if you are bothered by submental fullness, you’re not alone.
According to a 2015 survey, 67{60df113cd5a1cd00914727638812fb5300a840b86aa020a6e915251c64286fee} of people are bothered by submental fullness.  The problem has been highlighted in recent years by the use of facetime.  When the phone is taking video from below, this tends to make the condition more visible.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is a formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

How does Kybella Work?

When injected into fatty tissues, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells.
Because Kybella preferentially targets fat cells, surrounding non-fatty tissues
are largely unaffected.   There can be damage to surrounding tissue and skin if the injections are placed in the skin or muscle by an inexperienced doctor or another provider with inadaquate understanding of facial and neck and jaw anatomy.  Kybella results are permanent.  Kybella does not affect loose, sagging skin or underlying muscle bands
that may also be contributing the aging neck.

How much does the treatment cost?

The fees can vary depending on the severity of your condition.   Mild non surgical Kybella treatment can be as little as one session and as low as $1/day with financing.   Typical treatment plans are $3-4/day for the full treatment series.   We carge only $500/session for the professional injection services.  The cost for the medication will be in addition to the professional injection fee.   There is no anesthesia or facility fee if done in the office, but you can be sedated for the treatment in our surgery center for an additional $900/session.

How is Kybella Administered?

Kybella is administered via a series of injections into the under chin fat
at each 15 to 20 minute treatment session.
Usually two (2), but possibly, one to four vials of Kybella per treatment session
times two (2) to four (4) monthly to bimonthly treatment sessions
is recommended for successful, satisfactory results.
~80{60df113cd5a1cd00914727638812fb5300a840b86aa020a6e915251c64286fee} of patients treated with Kybella reported satisfaction with their results.

For most patients, downtime is minimal and worst after the first treatment.
Side effects include, but are not limited to:

  1. injection site swelling (edema / induration),
  2. bruising (hematoma),
  3. pain,
  4. numbness and redness (erythema).
  5. nerve damage.
Any side effects are temporary, usually lasting up to a few days,
but occasionally up to a week or more.

Kybella is contraindicated in the presence of infection at injection site.
Other contraindications include pregnancy and nursing.
To minimize bruising, avoid aspirin and aspirin containing products
for at least one week prior Kybella injections.
Also, avoid ibuprofen and related medications for 7 days prior Kybella injections.
Avoid other blood thinners per your prescribing physician’s recommendation.
Otherwise, no special pre-injection preparation is necessary.
Ice / cold packs and ibuprofen may be used after injections as needed.
