Pterygium Treatment

Pterygium Treatment

Like many conditions in medicine, they can be treated medically or surgically.   If the pterygium is progressive or interfering with vision, the patient is generally a candidate for surgery.  If the eye is quiet, patient comfortable and the growth is stable, then simple measures of artificial tears, sun and wind avoidance and sometimes a brief treatment of topical steroid drops can be used.
